New Windows for a Historic 1860 Victorian Crown Jewel

Clearview Windows recently completed a full-house window replacement on a historic brick home built in 1860 on Main Street in Sterling, Ohio. This home has been part of the local landscape for generations, and friends of ours owned the home for 37 years and the new owner is beginning a larger renovation with plans to use the property as an Airbnb in the future.

This was a multi-day project, completed in stages. With older brick homes, the goal is always the same: a clean fit, a clean finish, and windows that operate properly without taking away from the original look of the house.

This home has a lot of original character inside, from detailed wood trim to its pink curtains. While our work focused on replacing the windows, the interior tells the larger story of the property and its place in Sterling’s history. Why Historic Homes Require a Careful Install

Older brick homes come with details you don’t see in modern builds, including tall window openings, arched brickwork above the windows, and deep stone sills. Over time, original windows in homes like this often become drafty, difficult to operate, and less efficient.

How the Project Was Completed

Sealing and finishing to help reduce drafts and improve comfort
Final checks to ensure smooth operation and a consistent appearance

The Result

Once completed, the exterior looked sharper and more consistent, and the home was noticeably better sealed up for the winter season. A New View to the Deck

We helped Holly transform the two back windows of her home into a stunning sliding patio door. The goal? Improve natural light, indoor-outdoor flow, and deck access all while keeping her cozy homestead vibe.

Construction in Progress

Demo & Prep – We cleared the dining area, removed old trim and windows, and protected the floors.
Framing & Reinforcement – We opened up the wall framing to match the door size, added structural support, and prepped from both inside and out.
Door Rough-In – The sliding door was dry-fit, leveled, and secured. We added insulation, weatherproofing, and started interior and exterior trim work.

The Finished Look

The end result is beautiful: a bright, open space inside with seamless access to the deck. Function meets form for any season perfect for morning coffee, family dinners, or just soaking in the view.
